Please allow us to introduce ourselves.  Miss Barlow's consists of two families working together.  The Lowry's, Josh and Alisha, have three kids:  Ethan, Alex, and Olivia.  The Baird's, Mitch and Beth, have Gavin, Korbin, and Harper. While our families are just friends, we feel more like family.  All of us were born and raised in Martinsville, and we have put down our own roots here.  We love our little town and are excited to contribute and provide a needed service for our community.

Miss Barlow's came about in an unusual way, and we like to think that it was all part of God's big plan for our families.  During the summer of 2012 while making strawberry pies during summer vacation (We both worked for the school district, Alisha as guidance counselor and Beth as a junior high teacher.), an idea was hatched.  We decided to look into opening a dessert shop in our town which would only be open a few evenings and on Saturdays, allowing us to keep our teaching jobs.  After looking a buildings and researching kitchen requirements, we realized it could only be a dream.  During a conversation with the local restaurant owner, we off-handedly told her that is she ever wanted to sell to let us know.  She didn't act too interested in selling at the time, and we really just forgot about the idea as we resumed our busy lives.  Fast forward to 2015.  As I was traveling to Florida on vacation, I got a text from the aforementioned restaurant owner saying she was interested in selling and asking if we would be interested in buying.  My first response was no, but the more I thought about it, the more enticing it sounded.  You see, Alisha and I had both been praying about getting out of education, but we didn't know what to do or if we should.  After talking with Mitch and Josh and Alisha and praying A LOT for several months, we decided this was it.  We took a leap of faith and quit our jobs. Oh, what a leap it has been.  Our philosophy in all of this was to keep God at the center and to let him lead us in this adventure.  We're bossy, so letting God lead can be tricky, but we are learning.  It really is the only way to live life.

Lots of people ask about our name and how we came up with it.  B-A-R was taken from Baird.  L-O-W was taken from Lowry.  And the Miss is a tribute to our teaching days when everyone referred to us as Mrs. There you have it.

If your not familiar with our hometown, it is a sweet, little place.  Come visit us and enjoy some good food, browse the Mustard Seeds gift shop located in Miss Barlow's, and visit the world's biggest anvil and horseshoe.
